Laura believes that understanding your body in a way that makes sense to you is the most important element in maintaining health and preventing illness. Working as a senior Registered Nurse in Emergency Departments for many years has highlighted the health needs and challenges within our community. A strong belief in the benefits of holistic healthcare and a wellness orientated lifestyle is what led her to undertake a Bachelor of Health Science in Acupuncture. One of her long-term goals is to develop a framework for the integration of Acupuncture into our modern health care system.
The practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine provides a way to interpret signs and symptoms as an imbalance in the body that can be corrected. A treatment program may utilise a variety of techniques including; Acupuncture, Oriental Massage, Moxibustion, Cupping, Chinese dietary advice and Chinese Herbal Medicine. Laura takes the time to explain how this system of medicine can easily be incorporated into dietary and lifestyle choices.
Laura has a special interest in treating musculoskeletal pain and injuries. Her treatment style is influenced by her mother, a practicing Acupuncturist over the last 20 years. Whilst working in a natural health clinic that focused on Women’s Health, Laura gave birth to her first daughter 2 years ago. During that time, Laura realized that she has a passion for supporting and promoting a healthy pregnancy. This includes treating the common complaints associated with pregnancy and optimizing pre and post-natal health. Other areas of interest are migraine and headache management, digestive and menstrual disorders, menopause, insomnia, anxiety, paediatric illnesses and chronic health issues.
