Energy Tune up

Chinese herbal and acupuncture based detoxification program.

If your gut is happy, you are happy.

Everybody feels a little sluggish from time to time. Pollution, overeating, excess drinking, too much work and not enough rest all take their toll on our energy.

Detoxification has become quite fashionable, particularly in health spas, as a way of promoting a quick fix to health issues arising from our busy Western lifestyle.

At Ginseng clinic, we base our approach on the traditional Chinese Medicine way of looking at the individual. We create a plan which will design a detoxification to support the specific symptoms you want to remove, eg, IBS, belching, bloating, skin issues, lethargy. Our aim is to increase your energy for the long term.

Extreme detox serves only to challenge the body further. Our aim will always be to restore balance as gently as possible.

Why detox?

Chinese medicine has become a useful tool for many areas of general health – detoxification is one of them. Most of us are prone to a little overeating from time to time. Our Western lifestyle provides us with ample opportunity to indulge in rich, fatty and high energy foods which can weigh down our digestive system, both energetically and physically. The result – fatty livers, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic digestive upset etc.

Did you know that overeating can actually impair the functioning of the spleen and stomach so much that food in the stomach stagnates?! Have you ever wanted to massage your tummy or belch after eating way too much?

This is your brain asking you to help move that stagnant food along. Overeating and indulging over the long term naturally exacerbates this problem, often resulting in chronic digestive issues. Symptoms that start to appear include: chronic tiredness, bad breath, chronic bloating and very little appetite, sluggish bowels, poor skin and hair health, poor sleep – the list is long!

How does our Tune-Up Program differ?

We trust the wisdom of your body.

Revitalising your energy with acupuncture and Chinese herbs is an intelligent and effective way to tune-up overtaxed digestive systems and build vital energy – Qi. Traditional Chinese Medicine allows us to tailor a program suited to each individual.

We focus on eliminating all existing symptoms of an unbalanced digestive and elimination system, rather than drastically purge toxins which the body has elegantly stored out of harm’s way.

It is a gentle and thorough system aimed at restoring vital Qi and blood to busy, run-down people who are tired of being tired. It is perfect for couples wanting a pre-conception tune-up, or for anyone wanting to feel and look better.

Our Approach

Slow and steady wins the race.

Our 3-stage healing program lasts for several weeks, rather than several days.

John, can we briefly describe the 3 stages?

There is no glugging down glasses of oil and waiting for the expulsion!! Quick-fix detoxes can purge your fat cells of metabolites which the liver was unable to remove, only to have them shunted back into the same fat cells after an already tired liver is unable to deal with them the second time around!

This sets up the ‘healing crisis’ where you feel horrible as your toxic metabolites come out of the fat cells, and then feel good again as the liver fails to deal with the toxins which are shunted back into fat storage! The outcome is zero detoxification and certainly no healing. Just a week or three of feeling hideous.

For your body to eliminate stored toxins, your elimination organs must be functioning efficiently. This is why our program runs over several weeks, rather than several days. It is tailored to ensure that the body’s response is the positive absence of overload symptoms, rather than ghastly side effects.

Why Use Chinese herbs?

Chinese herbal detoxification is thorough and intelligent. Traditionally, the use of cleansing therapies developed in areas of China where there was an abundance of food and comfortable lifestyles. Zhang Zi-he (1156-1228) was one of the leading proponents of the ‘Purge the Pathogen School’ and placed great focus on the lifestyle factors in disease causation, particularly dietary irregularities.

Thankfully in contemporary practice, the more traditional forms of purging and emesis have fallen out of favour! They have been replaced with more gentle detoxification techniques using herbal formulas and acupuncture. Dietary advice is still a key component.

The beauty of these more contemporary approaches is that they allow the practitioner to develop a strategy that is completely tailored to your energetic make up and particular complaint.
